Malakai Black has been part of the AEW family for well over two years now, but his singles career is genuinely non-existent now. However, Black finally changed that recently as he competed in his first singles match since 2022 outside of AEW.
Malakai Black disclosed dealing with a minor calf tear and knee hyperextension, leading to temporary hiatus. He made his comeback in October of last year and has since been participating as part of a team with his House of Black associates.
As previously reported, Malakai Black has not competed in a singles match for the entire year of 2023. In fact, his last singles match was against Penta Oscuro in June 2022, something that puzzles fans and he hasn’t competed in a singles match outside AEW since September 2022.
The Dark Arts Gym, owned by Malakai Black and his wife Zelina Vega, showcased matches between their students on their YouTube channel. The main event of the show named Dark Prospects: Ritual, featured Black in a singles match with AEW commentator Tony Schiavone providing commentary. Therefore, Black competed in his first singles match since 2022, even if it wasn’t in AEW.
Malakai Black is presently engaged in a feud with Mark Briscoe, alongside the House of Black. Only time will tell if Black will ever get to compete in a singles match on AEW television ever again.
